Activités d’enseignement

J’enseigne la chimie quantique, la liaison chimique, la physique statistique et la spectroscopie aux niveaux L3 et M1 dans différentes formations à l’USTL. Je suis également en charge du module « X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy » du Master Européen Advanced Spectroscopy in Chemistry.

Par ailleurs je suis le correspondant pour l’USTL et je participe aux enseignements du label national « chimie théorique » de M2.

Recherches actuelles

Je participe à trois axes de recherches au sein du groupe modélisation et spectroscopie de l’équipe catalyse hétérogène de l’UCCS.

  • la modélisation des réactions d’hydrodésulfuration.

Cette activité est la continuation des travaux de longue date du groupe. Dans le contexte de la valorisation de la biomasse, les travaux s’orientent maintenant sur la modélisation des réactions d’hydrodésoxygénation dans le cadre d’un projet ANR-PNRB (ECOHDOC) en collaboration avec le Laboratoire Catalyse et Spectrochimie de l’Université de Caen Basse-Normandie, le Laboratoire de Catalyse en Chimie Organique de l’Université de Poitiers et la Société TOTAL.

  • la modélisation et la spectroscopie appliquées à la compréhension des phases oxydes supportés pour la valorisation du méthanol.

Ma nomination en septembre 2002 avait pour objet premier de développer la modélisation pour les réactions d’oxydation. Il est apparu assez rapidement que la connaissance au niveau microscopique des phases actives était trop limitée pour pouvoir développer des structures réalistes à utiliser comme point de départ dans la modélisation des chemins réactionnels. J’ai donc participé, en mettant à profit l’expérience acquise au cours de mon stage post-doctoral, au développement d’une activité en caractérisation spectroscopique des phases oxydes supportées (Mo ou Re sur alumine ou anatase) utilisées en oxydation sélective des alcools. Ce travail met en jeu toutes les compétences du groupe tant l’aspect spectroscopie Operando que l’aspect calcul ab-initio. Un financement spécifique pour le développement de montages Operando en spectroscopie d’absorption des rayons X (SAX) a été obtenue après de l’ANR : projet SAXO regroupant l’UCCS, le Laboratoire de Réactivité de Surface de l’Université Paris VI, l’Institut Néel du CNRS à Grenoble et l’équipe de la ligne SAMBA à SOLEIL.

  • la modélisation des réponses spectroscopiques en phase condensée (RMN, SAX).

Ce dernier thème de recherche est le fruit du rapprochement puis de la fusion (avec la création de l’UCCS en 2006) du LCL et du LCPS. Il est en effet apparu assez rapidement qu’il y avait un besoin dans les deux équipes de recherche d’affiner et de confirmer les données spectroscopiques obtenues en s’appuyant sur la modélisation des spectres RMN ou SAX. Nous avons ainsi démarré une collaboration avec le professeur Francesco Mauri (IMPMC, Paris VI) sur la modélisation des paramètres RMN dans les solides. Cette activité fait l’objet d’un projet transversal au niveau de l’UCCS. La modélisation des spectres d’absorption X (SAX) est en phase de démarrage mais va monter en puissance dans le cadre du projet ANR SAXO porté par le laboratoire.
