Christophe Dujardin was born in 1975. He completed a M.Sc. degree in Material Sciences from the University of Caen. In 2002 he received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Caen in theoretic physical and analytical chemistry under the supervision of Dr Françoise Maugé in collaboration with Dr Jacob Van Gestel and Professor Jean-Claude Duchet on the following subject: «Characterisation of hydrotreating catalysts through model reactions and Infrared spectroscopy: contribution to the understanding of the working catalyst under real feed». From 2001 to 2002, he moved to Atofina Research S.A. in Feluy, Belgium, as a Post Doc for one year. He subsequently joined the University Lille1 as Assistant Professor at the Unity of Catalysis and Solid State Chemistry (UCCS). In 2012 he obtained the accreditation to Supervise Research (Habilitation Thesis).

Research activities

He has co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific papers on heterogeneous catalysis applied to the elimination of environmental pollutants (NOx, N2O). His current research activities are mainly devoted to the removal of nitrogen oxides from stationary or mobile sources using heterogeneous catalysts. The understanding of the catalytic activity is improved by the use of Infrared spectroscopy in operando condition. Furthermore he studied the catalytic properties of novel catalysts in conditions very close to industrial applications. He also coordinates the French laboratories involved in the International group of Research between several countries, including France and Poland, entitled « Catalysis for polluting emissions after-treatment and production of renewable energies ». Finally he is also involved in the editorial board of Journal of Spectroscopy (Hindawi).

Research Interests

  • Evaluation of new catalysts operating in lean burn conditions
  • Correlations between physicochemical properties of catalytic surfaces and their performances (activity and selectivity of NO conversion into N2)
  • Understanding of catalyst during reaction using spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, XPS…)
  • Spectro-kinetic analysis and modeling of reaction

Teaching activities

Christophe Dujardin teaches at the University Lille 1 Sciences and Technologies Thermodynamics, Chemistry and Analytical Sciences (BSc) and the use of spectroscopic methods for the catalyst characterisation (MSc). He is also responsible of the Masters in Catalysis and Process (University Lille1, ENSCL, EC-Lille, IFP School).
