Recherches actuelles

Mes recherches portent sur l’étude des mécanismes de la catalyse au niveau atomique. Pour cela j’utilise les outils de la chimie quantique pour déterminer la nature des intermédiaires réactionnels et calculer les énergies d’activation des étapes élémentaires. Les études passent donc par une définition et une modélisation du site actif en catalyse homogène et hétérogène. Pour cela, il est nécessaire de disposer d’information préciser sur la nature des espèces présentent dans le milieu grâce à l’utilisation de méthodes spectroscopique en conditions de réactions. L’interprétation fine des ces données spectroscopiques passe de plus en plus souvent par une étape de modélisation et de comparaison entre les données expérimentales et les spectres calculés théoriquement au niveau quantique.

Ces travaux sont effectués dans les domaines suivant

  • Catalyse par les oxydes et sulfures de molybdènes supportés sur une phase oxyde (Al2O3, TiO2)

Nous recherchons les mécanismes réactionnels de désulfuration et déoxygénation de molécules aromatiques sur des catalyseurs à bases de MoS2 (fig. 1) et sur ceux d’oxydation du méthanol sur des catalyseurs à base de MoO3 (fig. 2).

La formation de lacune n’est pas obligatoire pour permettre l’adsorption de petites molécules comme le thiophène.

Les monomère MoO3 sont les espèces les plus stable à faible recouvrement sur la surface mais comme le montre le diagramme, la réaction est pratiquement impossible. L’énergie d’activation calculée est 2 fois plus élevée que celle obtenue expérimentalement. On peut donc en déduire que seuls les espèces polymériques participent à la réaction

  • Modélisation des mécanismes de polymérisation et de métathèse

La métathèse des alcènes et des alcynes peut ètre catalysée par des carbènes ou carbynes de métaux de transitions. Les mécanismes impliquent la formation d’un métallacycle mais les facteurs influençant la stabilité de cet intermédiaire ne sont pas tous connus. Une étude théorique permet de discriminer simplement les effets stériques et électroniques (fig. 3)

  • Modélisation de données spectroscopiques

La définition du modèle utilisé pour les calculs ab-initio doit étre basée sur des données expérimentales précise qui proviennent généralement de spectroscopies effectuée dans les conditions de la réaction. L’interprétation des spectres passe alors souvent par une modélisation ab-initio

L’adsorption de CO sur un catalyseur de désulfuration(MoS2) fait apparaitre 2 bandes que nous avons pu attribuer à l’adsorption sur les 2 bords des particules de MoS2. L’évolution des spectres en fonction de la pression partielle en H2S est en accord avec l’interprétation proposée et est une confirmation de la validité du modèle théorique.
