Jérémy Dhainaut joined the CNRS in January 2019 as a researcher (Chargé de Recherche) at UCCS. Over his past experiences, both in academics and in industry, he developed an extended knowledge in the preparation and shaping of porous materials including zeolites, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and mesoporous silica. Nowadays his research is focused on the use of additive fabrication technologies for the preparation of catalysts and supports, especially for biomass valorisation.

Recent studies :

A commercial 3D printer was modified to prepare a variety of MOF-based solids with controlled morphologies from shear-thinning inks containing 2-hydroxyethyl cellulose. Four benchmark MOFs were tested for this purpose: HKUST-1, CPL-1, ZIF-8, and UiO-66-NH2. All solids are mechanically stable with up to 0.6 MPa of uniaxial compression and highly porous with BET specific surface areas lowered by 0 to -25%. Furthermore, these solids were applied to high-pressure hydrocarbon sorption (CH4, C2H4, and C2H6), for which they presented a consequent methane gravimetric uptake (UiO-66-NH2, ZIF-8, and HKUST-1) and a highly preferential adsorption of ethylene over ethane (CPL-1).


Current participation to :

  • UPCAT technological platform (CPER-FEDER Archi-CM 3.2). UPCAT aims to support the upscaling of novel catalytic formulations for academics and industrials. UPCAT is equipped with up-to-date equipments for the synthesis, shaping, activation and characterization of catalysts up to the kilogram scale. More information on the website (in construction).
  • RégCat (coordinator, STIMulE Volet Partenarial). This project is interested in building a strong collaboration between three regional laboratories (UCCS, LMCPA, TIMR), around research topics of mutual interest: 1/ granulation of hybrid materials, 2/ additive fabrication of ceramic supports, 3/ use of biobased templates for the synthesis of mesoporous organized supports.
  • TEXMOF (ANR ASTRID). Within TEXMOF, the deposition of a thin layer of metal-organic frameworks on fabrics for toxic gas remediation is investigated.
  • LOVOCAT (CPER PO FEDER IRenE 4). LOVOCAT is a joint project with an industrial, interested in the coupling of adsorption and catalysis for the efficient remediation of mixtures of COVs.
  • CatReMo (ANR PRC). The CatReMo project aims at studying new efficient and robust routes for the solvothermal conversion of raw lignocellulosic biomass into added-value molecules, by using stable and reusable heterogeneous catalysts.
